In my book goalkeeping, one huge point that Tony Diccio states from the beginning is that in order for you to be most successful, you need to have a very good relationship with your coach, or coaches. "I'm not saying you need to be best friends, but you need to be able to open up, and be comfortable with each other, this will allow the communication to flow more smoothly and open endlessly". In this quote we see that in order for you to truly succeed you need to be able to have open discussions with your coach. If you see a problem with the way he or she said something, you need to be able to talk with them, and figure what you want to accomplish, what they want accomplished of you and go from there!
How i have been trying to work on this is by asking clarifying questions, i do this one, so i know exactly what my coaches are expecting of me and that leaves less room for error later, But i also do this because it shows the coaches that i am attentive and aware of what is going on, and i am focused and processing all of there information!
So far the feed back and response from my coaches have been nothing but positive! and i feel a lot more comfortable opening up and talking about ideas i have on how i may or may not be able to do a certain task.
I have also noticed a great difference in my coaches feed back to me, i asked why the change and they said they often times felt like i wouldn't really listen to what they where saying so they stopped giving me as much corrections which only hurt my game! But after i started showing them that no i was in fact paying attention and i was taking in what they were having to say and implying it into my game, they've started to give me way more corrections again! Which is a great thing!
Overall i am very happy with the results and i feel like both myself and my coaches are happy with the out come with this change!
My question is who is someone in your life that you value their opinion and most the time if they say something like a correction you should make you try to imply it in your life!
