Goalkeeping complete guide

Goalkeeping for me is more then just a hobby, its an obsession! Its something i continue to push myself in, to get better, and better. One very hard thing with goalkeeping is there isn't any room for mistake. Seriously, one wrong move, or one bad dive and you get scored on. You have to be a perfectionist to be a really good goalkeeper! You have to always want to get better! That is why i am reading the book called Goalkeeper written By Tony Diccio!

The first and one of the biggest points in this book on how to be a successful goalkeeper is displaying a sense of trust in your teammates, And truly working together as a whole unit rather then individual players. "The key to any successful team is not how talented or untalented they are, its the relationship each teammate has with each other, and if each individual is willingly to sacrifice everything they have for there team". In this Quote Tony is talking about how important it is to truly have a Bond with each and everyone one of your teammates, and create and environment of I've got your back and i know you've got mine.

This though process is so important because it allows all the players to feel like that its ok to make a mistake, because if they do, they've got ten more players out there openly ready to help them. "Its a support system, everyone is going to make mistakes, so why not help each other along the way, instead of taking on individual battles and losing".

So what I have done to improve my Skills in this area is focus Greatly on communication. As a goalkeeper you are constantly talking, you are essentially the coach on the field, because you have the whole game in front of you, But what i have found is if i just constantly just told my teammates corrections, they would end up getting frustrated with me because it felt to them as if i was just pointing out there flaws, and trying to call them out. Obviously this is not what i intended to do, so i changed, now i comment on everything good and bad. My teammate makes a great pass i'm the first to tell them. I mix my comments between compliments and area's to improve to help show that no i don't think i am better then any one else, i am only trying to help!

So far this technique has worked great and i have gotten so much positive feed back from my teammates! everyone is now more willingly to listen and work with me, thus creating a very strong bond in our defense which lead us to, have 11 shut outs in a row!

My question is, has there ever been a point in your life where you've had to change the way you at or talk to better communicate with another person?
