For my last blog post, I wanted something that could be quick and easy. After flipping through pages, I found a recipe that I thought would be easy, quick and even somewhat healthy. PB&J Bars. After reading through the ingredients and the steps, I decided it would be easy enough. Not only could it have been a snack but if you wanted too, you could eat this after any meal as if it was dessert.
Ingredients:
1 package (18 ounces) of refrigerated sugar cookie dough, divided (You could easily make your own dough or buy already made dough at the grocery store)
2/3 cup strawberry jam
3/4 cup granola cereal without raisins
3/4 cup peanut butter chips
(Taste of Home's 2000 Quick Cooking Annual Recipes).Right off the bat, I knew that this recipe wasn't going to be my favorite. I'm not much of a fan of jelly in my dessert but I pushed it to the back of my mind and tried to be optimistic. Even though I knew how much of a picky eater I was.
This was one of the few recipes where you didn't need a mixer of any kind and just needed an 9 in. square baking pan lined with foil. Afterwards you have to grease the foil. (Taste of Home's 2000 Quick Cooking Annual Recipes).
The first layer had told you to put 2/3 of the dough within the pan. Afterwards, spread the jelly above that covering mostly all of the dough underneath it. (Taste of Home's 2000 Quick Cooking Annual Recipes).
After that in a mixing bowl, mix the granola, peanut butter chips and remaining dough. Afterwards, lather the mixture onto the top layer above the jelly layer. (Taste of Home's 2000 Quick Cooking Annual Recipes).
Finally, you would place it in the oven at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown (Taste of Home's 2000 Quick Cooking Annual Recipes).
I hadn't been very careful with this recipe and just wanted to go through it quickly because the recipe seemed to go by quickly so I hadn't remembered to take very many pictures. Yet, at the end though it wasn't the best recipe in my opinion because I am such a picky eater and am not one to like filling in my desserts.
Question: Do you believe that it's okay to sometimes rush through a recipe?
