Starting New Crochet Project

When I started this project, I believed that crocheting would be easy. So far, this hasn't been the case. I decided that for the rest of this project I would attempt to crochet an actual project, instead of aimlessly making stitches with the yarn. Therefore, while looking through my crochet book I found one of the most basic beginner patterns, a "phone cozy," which I had no idea was even a thing. And decided to go with that.

The yarn color, and hook for this project
In the beginning, it took me forever to get the hang of the stitch it required. The book wasn't making much sense to me, and I began to get frustrated. Crocheting as a beginner is not an easy thing to do. Eventually, thankfully, I started to understand what I was doing and it began to turn out looking pretty decent. The code in the book was actually making sense, and everything was okay in the world. But the good vibes would end soon, as I had to learn another technique quickly into the process of the project. Again, trying to learn this new thing was frustrating, to say the least. I was proud of myself when I finally was able to do it correctly.

The end result of the first portion of this project came out pretty well. I am proud of what I was able to accomplish. I am hoping that the rest of this crochet "journey," I guess you could say, turns out well and I am able to finish this project without getting too impatient learning new skills.

Have you ever been frustrated with new skills? How did you overcome the frustration?
