Capturing the Moment At Its Source

Along with singing, songwriting is something that I hold very close to my heart. It allows me to express anything and everything at any time, but at times, I don’t know how communicate what I am feeling or how to use a very impactful moment as inspiration for my songwriting. So, with that being said, I decided to get some helpful insight from dummies.com which led me to this book, Songwriting for Dummies. This book gives me a look on all aspects of songwriting, including how to capture that moment of inspiration.

As a songwriter, I’m always looking for anything that could help me get some lyrics on to a piece of paper. Whether a coffee shop, watching a movie, or even doing household chores. “Try to carry with you, at all times, a notebook to jot down ideas and a digital recorder to capture your musical phrases” (Peterik 496). As I read this, I realized that if I did this, I would never lose that moment of creativity. This is a picture of a song that I wrote after I woke up from a dream.  Let me know if you have any ideas on how to save that perfect moment of creativity.
