Monster Cookies

Mmmmmm…. Who doesn’t love cookies with a cup of whole milk? I’m drooling just thinking about cookies. The recipe I chose to do takes chocolate chip cookies and punches them in the face. This recipe is called Monster Cookies. What’s cool about this recipe is that there is no flour. I think everyone can love this recipe because everybody loves cookies, unless you’re allergic to chocolate.

This recipe calls for… (Deen 58)

  • 6 eggs
  • One 1-pound package light brown sugar (2 ½ cups, packed)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • One 24-ounce jar creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 8 ounces M&M’s
  • 8 ounces chocolate chips (two thirds of a 12-ounce bag)
  • ½ cup raisins (optional)
  • 4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 9 cups quick-cooking oatmeal (instant)

Let me tell you right now, I improvised A LOT with this recipe because there were so many ingredients I didn’t have at home and also I cut this recipe by a forth because it calls for 6 dozen cookies which is WAY too much especially since I live in a family of 3, 4 including my dog. I cut out the peanut butter, raisins and oatmeal since I thought they were more of a personal preference ingredient and wouldn’t screw up the recipe.

Before I started putting my ingredients together I preheated my oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (Deen 58). I then took a cookie sheet and spray them with cooking spray. The recipe then tells me to grab a very large mixing bowl ad combine the eggs, and sugars. Then add salt, vanilla, peanut butter, and butter (Deen 59). I’m not using peanut butter so I just combined everything else together. Then it says to stir in the M&M’s, chocolate chips, baking soda, and oatmeal. (Deen 59)

After I took about a tablespoon of the mixture and rolled it into small droplets and placed them evenly on the cookie sheets and baked them for 10 minutes. I then took them out of the oven and let them cool for 3 minutes before my family got a hold of them.

There is nothing bad I could say about this recipe, it was overall delicious and I would definitely make it again. These cookies are perfect for holidays or events because they are so decadently sweet and anyone can enjoy them.

Next time I make these I think I’ll add in the peanut butter though because they could’ve been a little bit creamier.

Have you ever improvised a recipe and have the outcome be better than expected?
