Healthy Habits

During the summer I tend to gain weight but this summer, my goal is to loose weight and become healthy. Not only for the summer but for the rest of my life. My summers are either very busy or very lazy. Sometimes I travel and gain weight and other times I sit on my sofa and eat ice cream. But this summer will be different for me, even though I already know that I'm going to be traveling. I'm still going to try to stay on a healthy diet. The main reason of way I gain weight during the summer is because I eat junk food. I don't think about it or I just say that that is the only unhealthy food that I'm going to eat. Sometimes I don't feel like making food because its hot in the kitchen and I cannot stand in that heat and make food for an hour!

This is why the book,  Be Good to Your Body--Healthy Eating and Fun Recipes by Roz Fulcher is so helpful. Since the author, wrote this book mainly for young children to persuade them to eat healthy. It is very helpful to not only young children but teens as well. During the summer teens tend to relax, which means watch movies and Netflix, but what we don't realize is that eating healthy and sitting around without you knowing it, is perhaps the most unhealthy thing. The author in this book has great recipes to share with young children and teens to help them create healthier eating habits. With such simple ingredients the author actually makes you motivated to make the different types of food.

Not only are there facts about how to eat healthy and what is healthy in certain foods, but there is a fun theme in the book that makes you want to try these great healthy food recipes:

"Most yogurts contain 'good for you' bacteria called probiotics" (Fulcher 181).
Probiotic bacteria help your digestive tract (Fulcher 181).
Also probiotics crowd out the harmful microorganisms in your body (Fulcher 181).
